International applicants are required to have a minimum score of 80 on the internet based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) by the University of Texas at Austin. The average TOEFL score for current Microbiology graduate students is 104. If you hold bachelor's degrees from a U.S. institution or from an institution in another English-only speaking country, you will receive a waiver of the TOEFL. The TOEFL test score is good for 2 years.
International students whose native language is not English must also submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Please arrange to have your official scores sent to the Graduate and International Admissions Center by ETS. Only test scores mailed directly from the testing agency are considered official.
